Capturing Moments for Eternity
There are some moments in time that need to be preserved for an eternity. It is only photos that help achieve this. Photos have helped capture time for eternity and helped pass on the history behind these episodes. Who can ever forget the pictures of the fallen Twin Towers or the heroic firefighters who emerged from its ashes carrying survivors?
Creating interesting photos that can be remembered is not very easy. It requires considerable skill and knowledge. The most important factor to remember while taking photos is to determine the intent of the picture. Photographers need to eliminate all other elements that could make the photograph very confusing.
Taking photos is not as simple as looking through a lens and shooting. Well, it is. But that is only when people do not mind about the quality of the photos. Good photos require the photographer to set the frame of the picture, choose the angle and eliminate all unimportant elements that would have cluttered it.
Sometimes by altering the angle from which the photos are taken, photographers can emphasize of exaggerate the subject. For instance, photos of dance lessons taken from the side present a completely different view from pictures taken from the side of the hall.
Putting the subject off-center often makes the composition more dynamic and interesting. Even if the subject of the photo, flowers, fills the frame, the most important part of the subject should not be dead center.
Photographers should always try and follow the rule of thirds. For instance photos of fields of flowers should not be close-ups of the fields. Instead, the flowers should only dominate the lower one-third of the frame.
